Don’t forget the unique shows of Hong Kong Disneyland

And of course, Disney fans want to see lots of shows too. In the first half, I was too focused on the attractions, so in the second half, I took my time to enjoy the shows mainly.

Mickey and the Wondrous Book is a show where Mickey unfolds a story by turning the pages of a book one by one. In true Hong Kong style, Mickey narrates the story in fluent Cantonese, which is quite surreal. I wonder how many languages Mickey speaks… If you want to hear Mickey speaking Cantonese, this is a must-see.

Hong Kong Disneyland’s smaller scale means you can get closer to the cast members, which is another attraction

By the way, Hong Kong Disneyland currently has World of Frozen, the world’s first Frozen-themed attraction, which is attracting fans from all over the world.

This is in front of the castle Castle of Magical Dreams. Recently, Tokyo Disneyland has been criticized for reducing the number of cast members, possibly due to cost-cutting measures, making the shows less impressive. However, Hong Kong Disneyland doesn’t seem to worry about expenses and puts on lively shows with many performers, making them incredibly impressive.

And then the popular characters keep coming out one after another

By the way, the princesses roam around Hong Kong Disneyland quite frequently, so your chances of encountering them are quite high.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take photos, but the Lion King show was also quite impressive and very worth seeing. While this show is being scaled down in Tokyo, Hong Kong Disneyland expresses the world of The Lion King with a large cast and great enthusiasm, which is overwhelming.

Don’t forget the night show at the “Castle of Magical Dreams”

By the way, the castle at Hong Kong Disneyland, the “Castle of Magical Dreams“, is not a recreation focused on a specific princess’s castle, but a unique crossover style that incorporates multiple stories into one castle.

And this “Castle of Magical Dreams” transforms into a different appearance at night with projection mapping.

This is how it looks at night. As the night show at 8 or 9 pm approaches, the projection map changes like a time signal, occasionally showing different expressions, which is quite charming.

It’s hard to take your eyes off the castle as it shows various expressions

The start time of the night show varies depending on the day, so be sure to check the official website in advance. It’s best to wait in the plaza at least 30 minutes before the start time, and if you want to secure a good spot, you might want to get there an hour early.

It’s a good idea to bring a compact chair to avoid bothering those around you while also reducing fatigue in your legs and back.

And when the show starts, the castle is dynamically colored by projection mapping, and fireworks are launched in abundance. The Hong Kong Disney style show, which doesn’t skimp on expenses, is exhilarating to watch!

Fireworks launched without hesitation

While Tokyo Disneyland used to have performances using projection mapping, the projection mapping at Hong Kong Disneyland is at a different technical level. It’s not just about projecting images onto the castle, but there are many tricks embedded. To avoid spoilers, please check the details with your own eyes on site!

How was it?

This time, I’ve briefly reported on the shows at Hong Kong Disneyland. Since the shows change significantly depending on the season, I recommend checking the schedule in advance and making a detailed plan. In the next article, I’ll explain the unique features and highlights of Hong Kong Disneyland, so stay tuned!
