Hello, I’m Yam, a travel blogger. This time, I visited “Wadi Bani Khalid,” a famous summer retreat in Oman, and took a courage test with a local young man. This beautiful oasis is a paradise-like place surrounded by crystal-clear water and rich nature, but you can also enjoy thrilling activities. Now, let me introduce you to the charm of Wadi Bani Khalid and my courage test experience!

What is Wadi Bani Khalid?

Wadi Bani Khalid is renowned as an oasis that can be visited as a day trip from Muscat

Wadi Bani Khalid is a famous valley (wadi) located in the Sharqiyah region of Oman. This wadi, with its crystal-clear emerald green water, is popular among locals and tourists as an ideal place to escape Oman’s hot summers. Natural rock pools, waterfalls, and beautiful scenery spread throughout the area, enchanting visitors.

Access to Wadi Bani Khalid

The journey by car is also enjoyable – that’s the Oman quality

Wadi Bani Khalid is about 200km from Muscat, approximately a 3-hour drive. Access is relatively easy, with paved roads allowing you to visit in a regular car. Upon arrival, there’s a parking area from which the wadi is easily accessible.

The Charm of Wadi Bani Khalid

Beautiful Nature and Pure Water

The main attraction of Wadi Bani Khalid is its beautiful nature and pure water. The emerald green water is so transparent that you can see to the bottom. This water flows from the mountains, remaining cool year-round, helping you forget the summer heat. Fish also swim in the water, allowing you to experience a sense of unity with nature.

Picnics and Walks

After swimming, enjoying a meal while overlooking the wadi is recommended

Around the wadi, there are picnic areas and rest spaces, making it popular for families and friends. Spending a leisurely time in nature is perfect for a relaxing holiday. There are also walking paths within the wadi, allowing you to explore the valley while enjoying the natural beauty.

Courage Test Spot

The main topic of this article is that Wadi Bani Khalid has a popular activity known to insiders: a courage test. It involves jumping from a bridge into the water 20 meters below. This spot is popular among young people seeking thrills and adventure-loving tourists. This time, I took on this courage test with a local young man named Qusai.

Taking the Courage Test!

Upon arriving at the courage test spot, I was overwhelmed by the height of the bridge before me. A height of 20 meters is more impressive than I had imagined. Qusai encouraged me with a smile, saying, “Don’t be afraid, it’s fun!” Despite feeling a bit nervous, I was determined to enjoy this thrilling experience.

Qusai’s Demonstration

Qusai, accustomed to jumping, leaps effortlessly

First, Qusai demonstrated for me. He stood at the edge of the bridge, took a deep breath, and jumped in at once. Impressed by his magnificent dive, I felt the courage to follow and jump. Standing at the edge of the bridge, my legs froze when I looked down, but I was supported by Qusai’s encouragement: “It’s okay, you can do it!”

The Moment of Jumping

Steeling myself and getting into jumping position

Finally, it was my turn. I stood at the edge of the bridge, took a deep breath to calm myself, and then gathered my courage to jump at once. The moment of flying through the air felt like time had stopped, with thrill and excitement mingling together. The moment I hit the water surface, the cold water enveloped my entire body, spreading an indescribable refreshing feeling.

Impressions and Sense of Achievement

After completing the jump, I was filled with a sense of achievement and exhilaration. Floating on the water surface with Qusai, we rejoiced together, saying “We did it!” This experience became an unforgettable memory at Wadi Bani Khalid. The thrilling jump in a foreign country was a big challenge for me, but I was happiest that I accomplished it with Qusai’s support.

Ways to Enjoy the Wadi

Swimming in the valley during Oman’s midsummer feels incredibly good!

There are many ways to enjoy Wadi Bani Khalid besides the courage test. Even without jumping, swimming in beautiful nature is the ultimate relaxation. Leaving the scorching heat of Oman behind, spending time swimming in the clear water of the wadi or sunbathing on the rocks is a moment to refresh both mind and body.

There are also restaurants and picnic areas around the wadi where you can enjoy meals with friends or family. Additionally, it’s recommended to enjoy the beautiful scenery while walking through nature.

Summary

Oman’s “Wadi Bani Khalid” is a summer retreat characterized by beautiful nature and clear water. During this courage test, I was able to create unforgettable memories by experiencing a thrilling jump with local young man Qusai. Wadi Bani Khalid is a place to satisfy your sense of adventure while enjoying nature, so please visit if you can.
