Continuing from my previous post, I’ll now report on our stay at “Koh Kood” (also written as Ko Kut), Thailand’s hidden gem beach resort island.
Blissful Beach Time

After putting our luggage in the room, I eagerly headed straight to the beach. Stretching before me was an endless white sandy beach. The sensation of sand on the soles of my feet was finer and softer than I had imagined, like walking on premium powder. As I walked to the water’s edge, the crystal-clear seawater gently caressed my ankles.
The shallow sea might not be ideal for snorkeling, but it provides the perfect environment for leisurely swimming. Since the water depth increases gradually, even those who aren’t strong swimmers can enjoy it with peace of mind. The seabed is covered with white sand, reflecting sunlight to create a beautiful gradient of light.

Surrendering yourself to the transparent seawater feels like your everyday stress is dissolving away. Giving yourself over to the rhythm of the waves, just looking up at the sky. Watching the occasional white cloud pass by, simply being there without thinking about anything. You can spend such luxurious time here.
Beach beds and chairs provided by the resort are scattered along the beach. Sitting deeply in one while listening to the sound of waves is an incomparable happiness. I ended up taking a nap, and when I woke up, the unchanging blue sea was still there before my eyes. It’s a blissful moment where you might even forget the passage of time.
A Special Space Woven by Silence
The greatest charm of Koh Kood lies in its quietness. Since the island hasn’t been heavily developed for tourism, there are hardly any people on the beach, giving you the feeling of being on a private beach. You won’t hear the loud music or boisterous voices commonly found at other beach resorts. Instead, all that reaches your ears is the murmur of waves and the sound of palm leaves swaying in the wind.

Koh Kood still retains its fishing village appearance
Occasionally, you might see local fishermen heading out to sea in small fishing boats, but even this becomes part of the charming landscape of this place. Getting a glimpse of their simple way of life is also a special experience unique to this island.
Breathtaking Sunset

Particularly impressive was the sunset viewed from the west-facing beach. From around 5 PM, the entire sky transforms into a magnificent canvas. First, the horizon begins to turn golden. From there, the gradual color transition from orange to red, purple, and then deep blue is truly a work of art painted by nature.

As the sun sets, the colors become increasingly fantastical
In this sea, it’s also possible to witness a phenomenon called the “green flash” at the moment the sun sinks into the ocean. It’s a mystical phenomenon where the sun’s last light refracts in the atmosphere, shining green for just an instant. Although I wasn’t fortunate enough to see this sight myself, such a fantastical scene would surely be deeply etched in one’s memory.
Soul-Soothing Evening Experience

The outdoor restaurant with plenty of open-air feeling
After sunset, we enjoyed dinner at the resort’s outdoor restaurant. Located right near the sandy beach, you can enjoy your meal while listening to the sound of waves. Soft lighting is arranged in the ceiling-less space, allowing you to dine while gazing at the starry sky.

The variety of Thai dishes made with fresh seafood offers flavors that can only be experienced in their country of origin. Particularly impressive was the Pad Krapow Goong made with shrimp caught on the island. The seasoning, with its refreshing acidity of lemongrass and lime, enhances the delicate flavor of the shrimp.

The Som Tum (papaya salad) sorbet I ordered for dessert is a personal favorite drink that I want to enjoy every time I come to Thailand. The balance of sweetness and acidity is exquisite, with a refreshing quality perfect for the hot climate. Since it contains plenty of alcohol, one should be careful not to consume it too quickly, deceived by its sweetness.
Although pleasant background music plays in the restaurant, it’s never noisy. The chill-out music harmonizes beautifully with the sound of waves. Other guests are also quietly enjoying their meals while gazing at the sea. It seems few people come here seeking a party atmosphere, and that’s another part of Koh Kood’s charm.

That night, I turned off the air conditioning and fell asleep with the balcony door open. The pleasant sea breeze and the distant sound of waves lulled us into a deep sleep like a lullaby. It was a comfortable sleep embraced by nature that you can never experience in the city.
Greeting the Final Morning
The next morning, when I woke up, the sun had already risen, and its light reflected off the sea surface into our room. The morning beach shows yet another expression. Countless tracks left by crabs remain on the sand wet with morning dew, telling the story of their nighttime activities.

On the way to the restaurant for breakfast, we also saw stray dogs relaxing on the beach. They too seemed enchanted by the peaceful atmosphere of the island. The dogs are friendly, occasionally accompanying tourists for walks together.

Breakfast was served buffet-style. I enjoyed fresh tropical fruits and Thai-style rice porridge called “Jok.” The Jok was garnished with fresh shrimp caught on the island, and combined with the flavor of ginger, it was a perfect dish for waking up in the morning.
A Memorable Farewell to the Island
By noon, we were back at the port by shuttle. Although it was just a short stay of one night and two days, it was enough time to forget the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and refresh both mind and body. The same scenery spreads through the car window on the way to the port, but this time with a sense of sadness.
Summary: The Charm of Koh Kood
Koh Kood is a rare place where “not being over-developed for tourism” is its highest praise. Even with a stay of two nights or more, you would never get bored. Rather, the more you surrender yourself to the island’s tranquility, the more new charms you will discover.
There are still many beautiful beaches and waterfalls on the island that we haven’t visited, and touring the island by rental motorbike is another way to enjoy it. You can also enjoy marine activities such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. If you want to enjoy a relaxed seaside experience, please visit Koh Kood.

Koh Kood is highly recommended for those who want to spend relaxed time watching the sunset over the sea!
