Hello, Disney fans! This is Aressa, a travel blogger. Today, I’ve got some exciting information about Disneyland!

Disneyland, the dream world for children and adults alike. While it’s exciting every time you go, you always feel the intense crowds. On weekends, it’s normal to wait 2-3 hours for just one ride. It’s not uncommon to spend most of your time at Disney fiddling with your smartphone while waiting in line. Moreover, if you’re not familiar with Disney, you might end up not enjoying your day at all due to unsuccessful advance reservations.

Good news for all of you! Did you know that at Hong Kong Disneyland, you can enjoy any ride with almost no waiting time? In this blog post, I’ll provide a detailed report of my experience at Hong Kong Disneyland, where I actually went and tried out all the rides!

What is Hong Kong Disneyland?

Hong Kong Disneyland (Hong Kong Disneyland/香港迪士尼樂園), which opened in 2005, is the second newest Disneyland in the world. Although it’s known as the smallest Disneyland in the world, its size (which is still too vast to cover entirely even if you walk all day at full speed!) means fewer visitors and rarely any congestion. Despite its small area, Adventureland, Jungle Cruise, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic are said to be the largest among all Disney parks worldwide, which is irresistible for fans.

Recently, the world’s first Frozen-themed attraction, World of Frozen, has opened, adding to its popularity.

Arriving in Hong Kong on an early morning flight, heading straight to Disneyland Resort

This time, to save time and travel expenses, I used an HK Express flight that departed from Japan late at night and arrived in Hong Kong early in the morning. It’s an LCC, but since I just sleep during the flight, it’s no problem. I get a good sleep to prepare for the day at the park.

Pret A Manger coffee, which you can’t find in Japan

After arriving at Hong Kong International Airport, I grab a wake-up coffee and head to the Disneyland station. By the way, this Pret A Manger is a British sandwich and coffee shop. It once expanded to Japan but later withdrew, so it’s now a brand you can’t see in Japan. In Hong Kong, there are many British-originated shops besides Pret. Especially, British-originated antique candy shops are a must-visit on your Hong Kong trip! I’ve explained in detail in another article, so please read it together!

Even the Disneyland line trains and stations are cute!

I take the train from the airport to the Disneyland (Disney) station. Change at Sunny Bay station to the Disneyland line.

The Disneyland line train arriving at the station. The window frames are cut out in Mickey shapes, which is very cute.

The inside of the train is also elaborately decorated with Mickey statues and other ornaments.

And we arrive at Disneyland station. The slightly retro design is heartwarming.

Visiting the Disneyland Hotel

As soon as you exit the ticket gate, you’ll see the entrance to Hong Kong Disneyland. But it’s still 8 AM. The park opens at 10 AM, so it might be too early, and there are only people who seem to be Disneyland employees. I decide to head to the hotel first.

On the opposite side of the station, there’s a shuttle bus stop that circulates between Disneyland station and the hotels. By the way, Hong Kong Disneyland has three hotels: Disneyland Hotel, Hollywood Hotel, and Explorers Lodge. The Hollywood Hotel features movie-themed decorations and a design that resembles a movie studio, while the Explorers Lodge, as the name suggests, has a survival camp feel like an explorer’s lodge. This time, I booked the most orthodox Disneyland Hotel.

This is the shuttle bus. Perhaps because of the time, there were hardly any passengers.

And we arrive at the Disneyland Hotel! The cute and gorgeous appearance is full of Disney’s world view. It feels like “This is Disney!” and my excitement starts to build. By the way, when we booked, it was about 30,000 yen per night, but please note that the price may fluctuate depending on the season and day of the week.

The entrance of Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

Looking down at my footsteps, I see a Mickey illustration drawn in the soil. Perhaps a cleaner drew it early in the morning. It’s in these small playful touches that you can feel Disney’s sophisticated consideration and hospitality.

Exploring the Hotel

With time to spare before the park opens, I decide to explore the hotel. This is the lobby entrance. There seems to be a crowd of people in the back.

Goofy was demonstrating Tai Chi! People of all ages were enjoying Tai Chi, trying to imitate Goofy’s movements. This is truly a scene unique to Hong Kong Disneyland that you can’t see in Japan.f:id:hallur:20230715130727j:image

This time Donald has boarded. After the Tai Chi session, there was also time for interaction with Donald.

Now, let’s explore inside the building. There are souvenir shops, children’s dress boutiques, restaurants, bars for adults, and more. There’s also an outdoor pool and gym, so long-stay users don’t have to worry about lack of exercise.

Paintings hung throughout the building. They enhance the immersive feeling as if you’ve wandered into a castle from a fairy tale.

There’s a miniature house in front of the fitness gym. Let’s take a peek inside.

Pushing the limits of my smartphone camera. Inside the miniature house are meticulously crafted miniature furniture that would put Sylvanian Families to shame. The attention to detail is truly Disney-level, with dreams packed into every corner.

By the way, this is what the room looks like. The painting of Disneyland Hotel hanging on the wall is cute.

From outside the room, you can see the hotel garden. It was a ground floorroom, but it’s quite a nice view!

And Disney’s detailed hospitality extends even to this: Mickey-branded bar soap that you’ll want to take home.

By the way, there are about 7 floors, and the three-dimensional interior design that takes advantage of the height is very gorgeous.

When you go outside, a garden full of openness spreads out like this. It’s hard to see in the photo, but there’s a maze in the shape of Mickey in the center. Many palm trees are planted, giving an irresistible tropical resort feel.

Even the small decoration modeled after a golf course is cute. If you look closely at all the small details, you might spend half a day just exploring the hotel.

How was it?

In this article, as the first part of the Hong Kong Disneyland experience report, I reported on the flow of arrival and the appearance of the hotel. Hong Kong Disneyland has a different flavor from Tokyo Disneyland, which is interesting. In the next article, I’ll report on the inside of the park, so stay tuned!
