Continuing from our previous article about The Peninsula Hong Kong’s afternoon tea service, let’s dive into a detailed review of this iconic experience!
Among Hong Kong’s many attractions, The Peninsula’s afternoon tea stands out as a must-try experience. Here’s our firsthand review of the ambiance, pricing, and most importantly – the food!
Reservations Are Essential
After a morning of exploring Kowloon, we arrived at our reserved time with eager appetites. Having heard about the generous portions, we deliberately skipped lunch to fully enjoy the experience. Upon arrival at the lobby restaurant, we were led to our centrally-located table. As expected, nearly every table was reserved.
The Menu: “Celebrate Istanbul”
Our afternoon tea featured a special “Celebrate Istanbul” theme, offering Turkish-inspired delicacies:
- Smoked salmon with basil cream cheese and spinach on simit
- Kisir with chicken breast, bulgur, tomato, and mint
- Beef kasik in lettuce with potato and pomegranate seeds
- Classic cucumber sandwich
- Octopus and avocado hummus with black olives and feta in pastry
- Turkish lebni semolina cake
- Rose cream tartlet
- Pistachio baklava
- Orange blossom roulade with orange jam
- Assorted Turkish delight
The set was priced at HKD 868 (approximately USD 110) for two people, plus 10% service charge. While not inexpensive, it’s significantly more affordable than booking a room at the hotel.
